With summer fast approaching we're all considering our summer wardrobes. While on sweltering days it's easy to revert to the old staples of shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops, they don't allow for much personalization. 1. Midi skirts and dresses.

The term 'midi' refers to any skirt-length from just below the knee to mid-shin. This style is great because it allows for breathability while maintaining an air of classic sophistication.

We recommend styling these looks with strappy sandals or a classic pump. Pairing a midi with booties can make your legs look a bit stumpy. Keep your ankle visible and pair a midi-skirt with a trim blouse or detailed tank-top.

2. Long pendant necklaces.

While jewelry is nothing new, we are starting to veer away from chunky statement necklaces (while still a great addition to any ensemble) and opt for more elongating looks. These pieces are easy to wear and are a simple way to add visual interest to more basic outfits. They are also slimming because they drawn the eye to the center of your body.

3. Pantsuits & rompers.

Talk about easy-peasy! This outfit is one and done with just a few accessories. Make sure you're finding a pantsuit or romper that allows you to move freely but doesn't blouse too much around your waist; use a belt for added definition and detail. 4. Unique necklines and sleeves.

It's all in the details! Look for simple cuts with eye-catching embellishments. It's not necessarily about finding a specific shape, but adding visual interest with decoration. When you wear styles such as these, keep accessories to a minimum as this will allow your clothes to do all the adorning.

5. Swing dresses

This look is defined by a loose- fitting cut skimming off of the chest and flowing out from under the arms. They are often made of jersey material or cotton and are a wonderful addition to a day of sun and festival fun. Try to find one that is of a heavier material so that the flow of the fabric will be uninterrupted.
